About the Farm

We are a tiny farm that took root in an unlikely place: on two lots in a suburban neighborhood.

Bittersweet Flower Farm germinated out of a dream to put flowers at the center of our lives, and to provide our community with blooms grown close to home. In a time when 80% of cut flowers are grown overseas, we believe that those grown locally and in season are more meaningful and more beautiful. We hope our customers are inspired to reconnect with the true seasonality of flowers.

We love to grow unique and old-fashioned blooms which are often hard to ship and so have fallen out of favor commercially. We use only natural and organic methods to feed and care for our flowers. Methods that are kind to wildlife and to pollinators.

About the Farmers

We each had a love of flowers and of cultivating things sown in us from an early age. Both of our families have deep roots in farming. Josué grew up on an almond farm in Northern California, where the orchards erupt in scented blooms in spring.

During Josué’s deployments overseas he would send me pictures of flowers brightening gloomy days and fill his barracks with them. In 2025, the same year that he retired from the U.S. Army after 21 years of service, I left a 20 year career in the aviation industry and Bittersweet Flower Farm was born.
